Who are we?

The Protestant and Catholic Student Ministry (ekhg) is facilitated by the Protestant and Catholic Churches. The ekhg is pleased to welcome all students and faculty at Reutlingen University, regardless of religious denomination.

We invite you to join us in our attempt to find and live by modern forms of spirituality. The “ThomasMesse - for seekers as well as firm believers”, and the “Junge Kirche” (Young-adult Church) are just two of the many outreach programs offered throughout the semester by the ekhg.

We support student matters and initiatives and offer help, advice and companionship in emergency situations and personal crisis situations.

We cooperate with University organizations such as ASTA (Student Government), the Director of the Ethics Program at the University, the International Office and the University Choir as well as with the individual academic departments. Together with these areas of the University, we offer numerous different German, English and bilingual programs and events.

We are your contact for church honors programs like Villigst and Cusanus and also offer assistance in finding and obtaining church scholarships such as KAAD and KED.

We arrange contact to German families for foreign students and faculty members.

We organize a variety of fun free-time activities.

We also offer:

  • Religious and spiritual services, devotionals, Bible study groups, visits to convents and monasteries and more
  • Workshops about how to improve social skills and manage a full university work load
  • Seminars about study skills, presentation techniques, time management, intercultural communication …
  • “Do it!” a short program intended to develop vital social skills, communication abilities and self-responsibility

Students who take part in seminars and workshops will receive a certificate of participation from the ekhg and Reutlingen University.

Some of the programs do require a fair to good command of the German language whereas others are bilingual or even held in English.

  • Movie nights, panel discussions, outings and local and regional hiking excursions
  • Cultural events such as “Literature Evening with a Glass of Wine” and “Culture Night”, where students introduce their native countries, cultures and traditions
